Allen Brown

I specialize in communicating succinctly, clearly, and persuasively. I demonstrate skill with understanding, synthesizing, and translating complex information so that others can use it to acquire knowledge, accomplish tasks, and achieve goals. In all my work I understand and meet the needs of my audience, I uphold high ethical standards, and I produce deliverables that reflect excellence in professional communication.

For 23 years, I held multiple leadership roles with Bridges from School to Work, a nonprofit organization established by the Marriott family. For seven of those 23 years, I specialized in writing grant applications, proposals, reports, website content, and other marketing materials, including annual reports and newsletters. My grants and proposals generated millions of dollars in public and private funding for Bridges from School to Work, including a three-year federal Department of Labor grant valued at $3.3 million that was awarded in October 2024.

My educational credentials include an M.S. in Technical Communication Management from Mercer University’s School of Engineering, a graduate certificate in Technical and Professional Communication from Kennesaw State University, and a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My formal training also includes a grant writing certificate program at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education and a web design and development course through the Society for Technical Communication.
